ALLELE Part Ways With Singer, Announce Replacement
June 30, 2006ALLELE — the new project featuring former COLD guitarist Kelly Hayes and former OTEP guitarist Lane Maverick — have parted ways with vocalist Wally Wood. The band's statement on the matter reads as follows:
"OK, so well now I'd imagine everyone pretty much knows what is going on. We would have preferred to make an official announcement about it first, but whatever. It was such a back-and-forth thing, and no one knew what was going on, so we didn't really say anything until now.
"Wally has left ALLELE. Yeah, it is an unfortunate situation, but we — Lane, Gian, and Tim — have also made the tough decision to continue. We have a new singer Andy Toole, and he is a bad motherfucker. (Like Samuel Jackson bad, like Michael Jackson in '86 bad.) We've already been in rehearsals for a couple weeks with him, and it's progressing beyond any of our expectations.
"Unfortunately, when you put five people in a van for months at a time, every once in a while, one of them doesn't get back in. But we have too much faith in this band, our fans, and all the amazing things we have going on to let it all go to Hell now.
"Originally Wally was gonna stay on through the July shows and Edgefest, but unfortunately that didn't end up being able to happen, so now these upcoming shows will be our first with Andy, and admittedly might be a little bit transitional. But instead of cancelling them, we are going to play, and put on the best fucking shows we have ever put on. We can't apologize enough to the promoters and fans who we had to cancel on earlier this month because of what was going on, and we can only look to the future and say that those days are behind us.
"And yeah, we could just quit. But then again, BLACK SABBATH, VAN HALEN, IRON MAIDEN, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, FAITH NO MORE, ANTHRAX, LINKIN PARK, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, and AC/DC could've just quit too.
"But we do want to send out much love to everybody who has supported us in the past, and everyone who will continue to in the future. We will be continuing to tour throughout the year in support of 'Point Of Origin', and will begin work on a new record later in the fall. We wish Wally the best in his new endeavors, musical or otherwise, and thank you all again for your undying support, and we hope you all stick with us."
ALLELE's debut album, "Point of Origin", was produced by Ben Schigel (CHIMAIRA, BREAKING POINT) and was released last October through Corporate Punishment Records.
